James Middleton has long been the least well-known Middleton sibling—but that may be about to change.

After posting privately to Instagram for years, Duchess Kate's younger brother has just made his account public. And we're happy to report that it was very much worth the wait. Not only does it provide a peek into the personal life of a royal relative, but it's introduced us to a cadre of new four-legged friends.

Among his other pursuits, James has been known to breed dogs. As of September of last year, when he moved to Scotland to be a tour guide at Glen Affric Lodge, he admitted to owning four. "The countryside is where I'm happiest and I'll be taking my four dogs to Glen Affric with me," he said. It seems that since then, he's acquired five more.

Recently, he celebrated the accomplishments of one pet in particular. "Proud of Ella becoming a PAT dog this year," he shared on Instagram. For those unfamiliar PAT stands for Pets As Therapy.

"Animals can provide a sense of calm, comfort, or safety and divert attention away from a stressful situation and toward one that provides pleasure... I am a huge believer in this and Ella has done so much for me."

Dogs aren't the only animals that James has featured on his account. He's also posted photos of himself holding a tiny Wren, cuddling with a lamb, and playing with a chicken.

If we've learned anything from his Instagram, it's that James is truly living his best Scottish life.
