A Look at the Stunning Jewelry Duchess Kate Inherited From Diana
The . After all, being part of the royal family means always being watched carefully. And what we've noticed over the years is that the two are very similar, from their fashion sense to their . That's why we're not surprised Duchess Kate is frequently seen wearing the pieces she inherited from Diana.
In fact, it was Diana's wish that her daughter-in-laws have access to her jewelry. According to the Telegraph, Diana's Letter of Wishes stated: "But I would like you to allocate all my jewelry to the share to be held by my sons, so that their wives may, in due course, have it or use it. I leave the exact division of the jewelry to your discretion."
Diana was gifted this House of Garrard-designed ring, featuring an oval 12-carat Ceylon sapphire surrounded by a cluster of 14 solitaire diamonds set in white gold, back in 1981 by Prince Charles. Once Prince William was ready to propose to Kate, he chose this heirloom to serve as her engagement ring.
The Lover's Knot Tiara was made in 1914 with diamonds and pearls the royal family already owned. It was given to Diana by Queen Elizabeth II as a wedding present. Once Kate joined the family, she inherited the piece and has been seen wearing it at several formal occasions, including the 2015 annual diplomatic reception.
Clearly, Diana had a thing for sapphire stones, as these earrings were some of her favorites. William gave them to Kate in 2010, who updated them by turning them into a drop style. The pair matches her sapphire engagement perfectly.
Diana's pearl bracelet was designed by Nigel Milne in 1988. However, it wasn't as iconic as some other pieces, which is why the jeweler was surprised when he saw Kate wearing the bracelet during a reception at Berlin's Clärchens Ballhaus on their final night of their royal tour of Germany in July 2017.
Apart from Diana's extensive collection, Kate has been given several other pieces from royal family members, including a gold charm bracelet with a "C" engraved on both sides of a coin, which was reportedly a wedding gift from Camilla Parker Bowles, her step-mother-in-law. Camilla wears a similar bracelet on her own wrist.
Kate has also been loaned jewelry on several occasions, including the Cartier "Halo" tiara she wore on her wedding day and several broaches that belong to the Queen.
