What Asia lacks in land space, it makes up for in height and unique concepts. These cosmopolitan rooftop bars get the compromise right.

Three Sixty at Millennium Hilton
Bangkok, Thailand

Three Sixty is designed to be an observation deck. Inside, leather couches are lined against the long, slanted windows that give way to cinematic views of Bangkok. Outside, the seats face tall, neighboring buildings and the many city lights that flicker at night.

New York Bar at Park Hyatt Hotel

Still in love with this city *the 1975 plays*

The once subdued New York Bar became seductive to tourists after being featured in Sofia Coppola’s 2003 film Lost in Translation. But even with fully booked Saturday nights, the bar maintains its relaxing allure. The low-lit interiors direct all attention to glimmering views of nighttime Tokyo from the 52nd floor. Don’t take cues from Bob Harris, who drank his whiskey by the bar. The best spot here is a table by the high glass windows.

OZONE at the Ritz-Carlton
Kowloon, Hong Kong

OZONE, 118 floors up the Ritz-Carlton, owns the bragging rights as Asia’s highest bar. At this altitude, the bar offers sweeping views of the city and the feeling of being perched on clouds. The glossy, honeycombed interiors compete for visitors’ attention as well. Jewel-toned floors, purple lights, and golden bar ceilings heighten the excitement of cocktail hour. Observation nooks in taupey colors are a more relaxing alternative.

Baba Nest at Sri Panwa Phuket Hotel
Phuket, Thailand

Baba Nest can easily pass for a floating island. Its wooden floor area hangs above an infinity pool, which seems to stretch far beyond because of the surrounding ocean views. This rooftop bar is made for laidback sunset viewing and intimate conversation with friends—every day only a small cohort gets to dine and wine here. Reservations are a must.

Sky Bar at Lebua
Bangkok, Thailand

Sky Bar is a full visual treat. First, the glowing dome and pillar lamps. Next, the circular bar that flaunts and alternates between fiery neons. And the best treat of all, a 360-degree view of the city from the 63rd floor.
