This Themed Brunch Lets You Dine Like Royalty

Many of us have an obsession with royalty that comes from an open secret that we admire and sometimes even envy its members' decadent lifestyles.

Similar to how Princess Margaret carried out her lavish morning routines, we, too, should sometimes take our sweet time and at a leisurely pace, start our weekends with a carefully curated meal.

Taking from the opulence of royal regimens around the world, Sofitel has prepared a series of themed brunches called Le Grand Royal Brunch, rolling out the regal treatment at its award-winning Spiral restaurant on these dates: April 29, July 29, and October 28, 2018.

To celebrate the extravagance of royal life, the brunch showcases a full-blown culinary production, tapping into the talents of its in-house chefs who are trained in various cuisines. Each of its quarterly offerings is fit for royalty, from the North Indian fare—the Murgh Shahjahani satisfied the cravings of maharajas of yore—to the East Asian section, where the Japanese atelier features a fresh tuna yaki shabu-shabu to liven up its selection. The stuffed Bai Hua fish maw dish, praised for its collagen-rich properties, is the highlight of the Chinese Wok. Among the other international options are Korean grilled beef kalbi, pan-seared foie gras, prime rib of, caviar and French oysters. The literal toast of this entire gastronomic affair is the free-flowing Champagne that comes with the weekend brunch.

Setting the tone for the first of its brunch series in January was a fashion show by Albert Andrada. Pieces from the ‘Margaret’ collection featured tea party-inspired haute couture that traced design elements back to the 1950s. Wearing Andrada's creations, the models were draped in Jewelmer pearls for a touch of elegance.

In keeping with the theme, guests arrived in tea party attire including fascinators. Those without the fancy headpieces easily found their own unique ones from the display stall at Spiral. The photo booth was a hit among the older crowd, while a special surprise awaited the younger diners. Games, interactive programs, and prizes were located by the dining area, where mascots in regal garb greeted guests.
