Shake Shack Manila opened to the public this morning, May 10, with hundreds of eager customers waiting at its doors. By 1:13 p.m., there were 556 diners queuing for a chance to get a taste of the restaurant’s signature burgers and hotdogs. Carmina Manalo, a Shake Shack first-timer and the very first customer in Manila, was at the front of the line at 10:30 p.m. last night. Along with 99 other early birds, she was treated to some Shake Shack swag.

While customers waited for Shake Shack to officially open its doors, they took part in a fun morning program that included a round of “Shackaoke” that the crowds participated in. This was followed by a surprise performance by local musicians Radha Cuadrado and Jett Pangan. There was also some dancing involved, as the Shake Shack crew performed a choreographed number for their guests.

To formally welcome the guests, however, the Shake Shack management team did things a little differently than the usual ribbon-cutting ceremony. After the arrival of the Shake Shack jeepney, Shake Shack and SSI executives Anton Huang, Randy Garutti, Michael Kark, Sean Wagner, MJ Tantoco, and Steve Sarmenta took the first bite of ShackBurgers. Not long after the festivities, customers started to enter the store at 11 a.m.
