EMP Summer House, the pop-up restaurant that debuted in East Hampton last summer, is coming back. Except this year, it will have a winter counterpart in Aspen.
The summer pop-up initially came about after restaurateur Will Guidara and Chef Daniel Humm decided to close Eleven Madison Park for a major renovation after it was named the best restaurant in the world. They wanted to make sure their staff had a place to work while the three-Michelin starred restaurant was shuttered for the summer.

The pop-up, which featured down-home dishes like fried chicken and lobster rolls, was the most requested reservation in the country last summer through American Express Platinum Concierge. (American Express is a partner in both EMP Summer House and EMP Winter House, and it's the only credit card accepted as payment.)
The summer restaurant will operate at 341 Pantigo Road in East Hampton again this year from May 25 through Labor Day, and reservations—which are open only to American Express card members—will be available beginning May 1 at empsummerhouse.com. Expect the dishes to be similar to last year; a few already confirmed menu items include lobster tempura with bibb lettuce, pickled radish and chile-lime aioli; tomato salad with strawberries and almonds; and ribeye for two, wood-fired with shallot, parmesan, and potato.

"We had originally planned the pop-up for one season, but had such an incredible experience with our guests and our staff last summer that we, along with our partners at American Express, realized there was no choice but to create a sequel," Guidara said in a press release. "We look forward to welcoming everyone back to the beach and introducing the new Winter House soon!"

The Aspen pop-up will operate from December 2018 through March 2019, and Humm wrote on Instagram that he "will be looking to my Swiss roots for menu inspiration." An American Express spokesperson said that "Aspen was chosen as the location for the EMP Winter House as it is among one of the top travel destinations for American Express Card Members." She said Aspen bookings are up 42 percent since last December among the brand's clients.
The pop-up's exact location will be revealed later this year.
