'Matilda' Introduces Next Troupe of Stage Kid Superstars

After a grueling audition process that saw more than 200 children at their doors, the people behind Atlantis Theatrical Entertainment Group have finalized the cast of talents that will take the stage at their production of Matilda, a musical based on the classic children's tale by Roald Dahl.
If you’re a frequent audience member of local stage plays, then it’s highly likely that you’ve come across this list of young talents before. They’ve announced not one but three rising theater stars to play the titular character:
Both
Meanwhile, Jamie Wilson plays the tyrannical Miss Trunchbull while Cris Villonco is Miss Jennifer Honey.
While De Torres was labeled Lea Salonga’s musical mini-me on The Voice, Salonga’s own daughter, Nicole Chien, will perform alongside this trio as one of Matilda’s classmates, Alice. While she has been seen on stage at school plays, this marks Chien’s first professional appearance in a theatrical production.
Other classmates include Ericka Peralejo, who has lent her voice to various cartoons and movies and starred in productions of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and Annie; Chi Chi Tan, who has received training in ballet, and taken voice lessons at the Center for Pop Music; Pablo Miguel Palacpac, who played Young Simon in Kinky Boots and took up workshops with Atlantis, and more. Most of the children in the musical might be young, but they are far from inexperienced. Together, they bring to life the timeless tale of a magical little girl and her fearless friends.
The show is directed by Bobby Garcia and produced by the Atlantis Theatrical Entertainment Group.
Matilda The Musical will run from November 10 to December 10 at the Meralco Theater, Ortigas Avenue corner Meralco Avenue, Ortigas Center, Pasig City. Tickets available at Ticketworld.com.
