Though their run ended in 2012, Blake Lively's Serena van der Woodson and Leighton Meester's Blair Waldorf are forever in our hearts—and the millennial television canon.

Now, thanks to CW President Mark Pedowitz, they might be set for a comeback. "There’s been discussions," Pedowitz journalists at the TV Critics' Association press tour, per Deadline. "But I don’t know if we’re there yet."

"I don’t know what it would be," Pedowitz continued. "A lot of that is up to the Warner Bros. studio and Josh [Schwartz] and Steph[anie Savage] because you don’t want to do anything without them." It seems that at this point, the CW is leaving open the possibility for a bonafide Gossip Girl reunion, or a new take on the series.

This is by far the most firm evidence we've gotten that a reboot might be in the works. Rumors have been swirling for years about a possible comeback for our favorite Upper East Siders, but it's always seemed like a moonshot. In 2016, Gossip Girl executive producers Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage seemed skeptical of a return. "We haven't really explored some of those conversations," Schwartz told E! News. "Maybe, I don't know. We haven't really thought about it."

In 2017, both Lively and Meester seemed open to some sort of a reunion. "Would I do seven years of the show? No, because it's hard work and I've got my babies, and I don't want to be away from them that much," Lively told Variety. "But would I do that? Who knows—if it was good, if it made sense."

"I guess I hear that [reunion talk] in fits and starts here and there, but it’s hard to say," Meester told Vanity Fair. "If everyone was into it and if the timing was right, you know? I don’t want to say, ‘No, never…'"

There's also the question of what Gossip Girl would look like in 2019. "The world has become Gossip Girl now," Schwartz told E! News in his 2016 interview. "Now literally everyone is Gossip Girl."

He's got that right. XOXO.
