As the season three premiere of the Netflix royal drama The Crown approaches and brings with it an entirely new cast– one of the fans' biggest questions for the original actress of Queen Elizabeth, Claire Foy, has been answered. Yes, she and the Queen have met before.

The British actress gave her account of her nerve-wracking encounter with Queen Elizabeth II at Buckingham Palace, "the real one...", while reminiscing about her famous role in her opening monologue for Saturday Night Live.

Claire recounts waiting in line anxiously to meet the Queen while thinking of questions and responses, shaking her hand and then being astonished when the Queen mentions nothing about her role in The Crown, "not a single word," remarked Foy.

However, it's revealed in the punchline that the meeting of the two queens took place three years before Claire Foy took on her role in the popular Netflix drama. Meaning we'll have to keep waiting for a post—The Crown meeting of Foy and the monarch—maybe the newly cast Queen Olivia Coleman could join as well.

Although we don't know how the Queen reacted to meeting Claire Foy after she portrayed her in the first two seasons, reports have said that many members of the royal family have indeed watched and enjoyed the Netflix show—and yes the Queen is one of them.

Among others that reportedly watch the show are Princess Eugenie, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, Camilla Parker Bowles, and Prince Edward and Countess Sophie of Wessex.

Claire Foy, who finished her role as the Queen in season two, spoke at the end of her monologue about how lucky she was to be able to portray strong women in history, such as the Queen, in her many roles.

"I've been fortunate to portray many strong women of history, and I'm so glad we have even more women getting involved in politics, even more women getting elected, even more women leading our countries, so hopefully I can get even more roles."
