Armida Siguion-Reyna Has Died at 88

The talented singer and actress starred in film and television roles and became a producer later in life.

Singer, film and stage actress Armida Siguion-Reyna has passed away at the age of 88 in Makati. Her sister, Irma Potenciano, confirmed that she succumbed to cancer to ABS-CBN.

The daughter of Alfonso Ponce-Enrile and Purificacion “Purita” Liwanag, Siguion-Reyna grew up in Malabon. As a young girl, Siguion-Reyna showed interest in the arts and would play the lead roles in her mother’s opera productions.

The talented Siguion-Reyna pursued her dreams and became one of the biggest names in entertainment, starring in film, television theatrical roles to music and producing. Before her big break, she found love with lawyer Leonardo Siguion-Reyna and had three children.

Her daughter, Monique Siguion Reyna, is the founding editor of Town&Country Philippines.

Following her footsteps in the entertainment industry are son director Carlos Siguion-Reyna, and grandchildren film and theater actors Cris Villonco and Rafa Siguion-Reyna.
