Tourism Secretary Berna Romulo Puyat regularly mingles with many well-known newsmakers in her current cabinet position.

Last night, at the state dinner given by President Rodrigo Duterte for Chinese President Xi Jinping at Malacañang Palace, Puyat hobnobbed with some of the nation’s wealthiest and most powerful.

However, it was Tony-Award winner Lea Salonga who made Puyat's evening. Salonga performed at the state dinner.

“I am a FAN of Lea Salonga,” Puyat posted on her personal Instagram and Facebook accounts. “I rarely have these fan moments but she is different. Back in 1990, my late sister and I flew all the way to London just so we could watch her in Miss Saigon. We even patiently waited after the play just so we could have a picture taken with her and have her autograph my playbill.”

“Imagine my surprise when I bumped into her as we were waiting for our car! I was so THRILLED to see her that I didn’t realize that I was begging people to take a picture of us,” Puyat posted.

“28 years since I watched her in Miss Saigon, I am still a fan and will forever be.”
