The Crown Has Finally Cast Its Princess Anne

The Crown is quickly filling out its cast for season three. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Erin Doherty will play the Queen's only daughter Princess Anne in the Netflix series.
Doherty, a relatively fresh face who has appeared on Call the Midwife, will be far from the only new actor on set. With the show covering approximately a decade of the Queen's life per season, the characters age faster than the actors who play
"They're getting rid of all of us," Claire Foy, who played Queen Elizabeth in seasons one and two of the show, told Vulture in December of last year. "After two seasons, that's it, I'm gone."
The casting of several of the other major players in this season
The series is reportedly filming now, but several roles still remain a mystery. Specifically, it has yet to be announced who will play the Queen Mother, Prince Charles, Princess Diana, and Camilla Parker Bowles.
Given that season three will cover the early 1970s, the role of Princess Anne will be a juicy one for Doherty. Not only will her first wedding to Mark Philips likely be a plot point, but so will her attempted kidnapping in 1974.
