Those who grew up reading sci-fi novels in the 1960s will find Disney’s newly released trailer for A Wrinkle in Time quite nostalgic. It's about a novel of the same name written by American writer Madeleine L’Engle. Younger fans will know the story of the time-traveling trio as a remake of a Disney television film released in 2003. The timeless tale of two children and their friend who embark on a supernatural search for a missing father is once again resurfacing and making its debut on the big screen in a Disney film with an all-star cast.

In a first look at the movie, which is set to be released in 2018, we get a glimpse of the beguiling worlds the children travel through to find the missing Doctor Murray and stop an evil force. Director Ava DuVerney creates an elaborate universe and enlists newcomer Storm Reid to play the lead role of Meg Murray with Chris Pine as her father. What’s more enchanting are the three supernatural beings who help the children travel through time and space: Mindy Kaling, Reese Witherspoon, and Oprah Winfrey take on the parts of Mrs. Who, Mrs. Whatsit, and Mrs. Which. These divine ladies no doubt stole the thunder in the first look at the film. See it below:

The original plot of the book has the children travel from one world to another with the help of a fictional physics force called a “tesseract,” which is not to be confused with the stone of the same name that exists within the Marvel cinematic universe. It seems that the new version of the story will follow that plot with a preview of some of the worlds in the trailer. A look into the world of “Camazotz” sees the heroes of the film in a suburban setting where all the inhabitants are programmed to act the same way.
