Patrón en Lalique, Serie 1

With only 500 limited-edition decanters of this very special extra añejo available worldwide, this unique bottling is a celebration of the artistry of two exceptional leaders in their craft. The exquisite Lalique crystal decanter takes its design inspiration from the Mexican blue Weber agave plant from which tequila is made, while its amber stopper  replicates the delicate piña, the heart of the agave plant. Each decanter is numbered and comes in a handmade leather case, and includes a leather-bound book and video that share the details of this first-ever collaboration between a Mexican distiller of tequila and the masters of French crystal.

Francisco Alcaraz, Patrón’s master distiller, was responsible for creating this special blend of extra añejo. In it are some of his oldest and rarest tequilas matured in a combination of new American oak barrels and both new and old French oak for at least four years. The result is a spirit with “complex notes of sweet caramel, honey, vanilla, dried fruits and nuts.” Available at Rustan’s Makati, 813.3739.

Peerless Spirit is the sixth and final installation in the prestigious Macallan in Lalique Six Pillars Collection created by the legendary French crystal house Lalique for Macallan whisky. This handcrafted decanter holds a 65-year-old whisky, said to be among the oldest and rarest ever released by the distillery. Dark walnut in color, this medium-bodied whisky with hints of cloves and delicately toasted cocoa beans also yields flavors including Madagascan vanilla pods, cinnamon, and Moroccan dates. As only 450 pieces have been released for global consumption, the stunning decanter is again expected to be a  highly coveted and collectible objet d’art.

Ken Grier, brand director at The Macallan, says, “With the entire collection now complete, it is time to reflect not only on the exquisite whiskies that have been brought to the forefront by The Macallan’s Master Whisky Maker, but also on the extraordinary skills of the Lalique craftsmen carrying on the legacy of René Lalique, the founding father whose artistic genius and talent continues to inspire and influence. It is the strong heritage, customs, and traditions of both The Macallan and Lalique that have united to create this ultimate collection that is an exquisite embodiment of fine artistry and craft.” themacallan.com; lalique.com.
