We can all agree that everything Aerin Lauder touches turns to gold. She is the epitome of fine yet modern taste. Below, Lauder shares her tips on hosting, from the perfect cocktail to serve to what to wear as hostess.

1. What is your go-to appetizer to serve?

AL: I love to serve gourmet potato chips and mixed nuts at cocktail parties in a beautiful gold bowl. They're savory easy snacks for guests that work with any cocktail or beverage.

2. Favorite cocktail?

AL: Personally I like wine or tequila but for special occasions, there is nothing more festive than a beautiful glass of champagne.

3. What is your go-to hostess outfit?

AL: I rely on looks I can wear to the office and easily transition to evening. Well-tailored black pants, a silk blouse, and classic pumps can be paired with a cowl for an effortless day-to-night look. To accessorize I'll wear a statement jewelry piece, often something that used to be my grandmother's to remind me of family.

4. What do you think is the perfect party host gift?

AL: In a technological world there is something even more special about illustrated books. I love giving a great coffee table book that's tailored to the interests of my hosts. Whether they are passionate about design, fashion, travel, food, or art, there are so many wonderful books to choose from. Two of my friends–Clinton Smith and Kelly Klein–had both released books and these are on my gifting list.

5. Best tip to having a stress-free party?

AL: I use a tray to create an instant cocktail party. It quickly becomes a portable bar space that can move with your guests. I usually place flowers, a crystal carafe and glasses, my favorite spirits and our footed deco bowls filled with nuts and chips for guests to snack on while they pour themselves a drink. It's elegant and relaxed.
