Lamborghini is joining the super-luxury SUV market.

After Bentley debuted its Bentayga, Mercedes upgraded the G-Class, and Land Rover unveiled its most luxurious Range Rover, it was only a matter of time before Lamborghini got in on the action.

The Urus, which is actually the second SUV the automaker has produced, made its debut at the company's headquarters in Sant'Agata, Italy this week.

The vehicle is powered by a 4.0-liter, twin-turbocharged V8 engine with 650 horsepower, and Lamborghini says its top speed of 190 miles per hour makes it the speediest SUV in the world.

"The Urus elevates the SUV to a level not previously possible, the Super SUV," Stefano Domenicali, Automobili Lamborghini's chairman and CEO, said in a press release.

It comes with six driving modes, including TERRA (off-road) and NEVE (snow). And even though it's designed to handle off-road terrain, the automaker says it hasn't lost that distinctive Lamborghini sound: "A specially-developed exhaust system ... customizes the sound output dependent on engine speed: at high acceleration, the Urus produces a more guttural, sporty sound and chassis feedback."

The first models have a suggested retail price of $200,000 and will be available in 2018.
