This Luxury Auto Brand Is Making Traveling with Your Dogs Easier

Land Rover has ramps for little dogs and a portable rinse system for that pup who's gone on a muddy walk.

To be a dog person is to be always thinking about how you can include your best friends in every aspect of life. From pet-friendly hotels to navigating air travel, there are hoops aplenty—and all worth jumping through.

Car trips seemingly would be the easiest with Fido in tow, but that too can involve hurdles (like a flurry of dog hair or iffy jumps into high SUVs). The sporting folk at Land Rover applied their genius to the issue, developing a range of Pet Packs that turn your ride into a pet-friendly space. Available accessories include a quilted liner, access ramp, carrier, spill-resistant bowl, and portable rinse system, which is designed to help clean a dog who's gotten muddy.

Packs will be available for every Land Rover model in the U.S. this winter; customers can also purchase items individually.

“Land Rover is all about enjoying the great outdoors and that goes hand-in-hand with dog ownership for many customers,” Finbar McFall, Product Marketing Director, Jaguar Land Rover, said in a statement. “Our customers told us that the comfort of their dogs on car journeys is crucial. They are part of the family and we recognize that.”

Supporting the adage that it's about the journey, not the destination, the rinse system seems especially invaluable. When you're with dogs, a drive to the country can involve a whole realm of adventure—lakes, trails, and wide-open fields—that isn't especially interior-friendly. To address all that fun, Land Rover's rinse system holds approximately 1.7 gallons of water and can be used for a full five minutes (enough time to get even the largest Lab free of mud).
