A number of crucial points were made affecting the future of Apple products during the WWDC 2017 on June 5. This spells new features rolling out with the upcoming Apple iOS 11 update, as presented in the video below.

To sum it up, here are the major changes the update brings along:

Access more apps on Messages.
The update has a redesigned App Drawer that you can swipe through while using the Messages app. This makes it easier to share content with others, such as recommending new songs through Apple Music.

Transfer money instantly with Apple Pay.
Skip the cash exchange and transfer payments by simply opening Apple Pay in Messages and sending money from debit and credit cards. When discussing payments in Messages, Siri detects your need and suggests the use of Apple Pay.

Translate foreign languages in real-time with Siri.
So far, the list includes Chinese, French, German, Italian, and Spanish translations but more languages are promised in in the future. Imagine traveling to a foreign land with your mobile phone as your instant language translator. When you ask Siri for a direct translation, the built-in mobile assistant voices out the translation, with both the native and English text of the translation displayed on your screen. Siri also comes in new, more natural sounding, male and female voices.

Edit videos freely with Live Photos.
Live Photos gets an upgrade and you can easily edit your video loops. The feature allows you to mute, bounce, loop, and set up long exposure directly on the app. Aside from Live Photos, the Camera app also supports high-efficiency video coding, creating twice the compression without compromising video quality.

Drivers’ safety prioritized with Do Not Disturb While Driving.
Through this new iOS 11 feature, your phone detects through Bluetooth when you’re inside a car and silences the notifications you receive while driving. If you receive a message while this feature is on, you may set and customize auto-replies.

Navigate through malls and airports with ease.
Using Maps, navigate your way to the new lunch spot where you’re meeting friends, with detailed floor plans of malls and major airports to guide you to your destination.

Never miss a freeway entrance with Lane Guidance.
Another exciting Maps feature is Lane Guidance, which will tell you exactly when and where to turn or exit, and give you the speed limit of the road you’re on.

Find everything in its place.
The iOS 11 knows you need to sort out your life and has improved both its Lock Screen and Control Center. The updated Control Center creates a new page where all the essential commands can be found and 3D Touch allows you to make further adjustments. Meanwhile, when your screen is locked, you can see all your notifications in one place. To view them, pull down your notifications by swiping down from the top of your screen.
