As a traveler, you've probably encountered this common dilemma: Should you bring a bulky DSLR camera for the best image quality or go for a smartphone or GoPro for maximum portability?

While having both is ideal, it may be better to go with the alternative that sits somewhere in the middle. Enter the Fujifilm XA-5, the smallest and lightest mirrorless digital camera from its X-series range.

Small in size, big in specs

The XA-5 is no slouch when it comes to specs in spite of its diminutive form factor. It has a brand new 24.2-megapixel sensor, phase-detection autofocus that's twice as fast as its predecessor, automatic Bluetooth image transfer (which means you can post your photos online using your smartphone right away), and 4k video recording at 15 frames per second. The 180-degree reversible touchscreen also makes a comeback, which now has a microphone jack, making it a great choice for vloggers and Youtubers.

Slo-mo and 4k burst function

Never miss a precious moment with the camera's 4K burst function that captures 15 frames per second in 4k image quality. As for the video function, The XA-5 can now also record slow-mo clips, with four different speed settings, at an HD (720p) resolution.

New advanced filters

The XA-5 now has two new advanced filters to complement its already excellent selection of film simulation modes and filters. Fog Remove deletes foggy tones, making it perfect for landscape photography, while HDR Art can make a photo look like a realistic painting.

Powerful macro and selfie photography

Fujifilm's cameras are well-known for their excellent skin tone reproduction. The Portrait Enhancer mode of the XA-5 makes automatic adjustments to enhance skin tones for better portrait shots and can be applied on three levels. Selfies are also guaranteed to be always sharp with the Eye Detection AF that is automatically activated when you rotate the tilting display. Macro photography also got an upgrade. The XA-5's new Fujinon XC15-45mm f/3.5-5.6 OIS PZ electric-powered lens lets users shoot objects as close as 5cm away.
