The Buckingham Palace Gets All Dressed Up for Christmas

“It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas...” announces the Royal Family social media accounts on #NationalChristmasTreeDay.

Buckingham Palace officially ushered in the yuletide season with festive decorations adorning the Queen’s London residence. Massive pine trees trimmed with fairy lights and embroidered plush ornaments made to look like the crown jewels with the Buckingham Palace name line the halls.

On the gilded railings hang green garlands dotted with colorful Christmas balls, as if dictated by Her Majesty’s multicolored wardrobe palette.

Decorations came just in time for the annual Diplomatic Reception, where the Queen, Prince Philip, the Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall, and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge—the princes wore their badges and medals of honor while the women were decked in their crowns and jewels—were in attendance to welcome their esteemed guests from around the globe.

At Clarence House, the residence of Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, the Christmas spirit is evident in the pine tree adorned with glittering ornaments in red and gold. The couple's official Christmas card greets the receiver a very happy Christmas and new year with a photo of the stately duo surrounded by their subjects.
