Lanai: An Open-Air Emporium of Easy Chic Lifestyle Steals

Located at hip new space The Alley at Karrivin, Lanai is a treasure trove of pure beauty waiting to be discovered.

“Easy chic” are choice words that best describe Lanai, the luxury lifestyle emporium recently opened by modern swans and budding tastemakers Maria Parsons, Bianca Zobel-Warns, and her sister, Natalia Zobel. A retail sanctuary where one can come to browse, buy, or just escape from it all, Lanai is aptly situated along the open-air corridor of The Alley at Karrivin next to hip eateries, fine art galleries, and contemporary design establishments.

Despite its of-the-moment location, it still manages to be a tranquil respite and is cleverly tucked away behind a pair of large, carved wooden doors that open up to a high-ceilinged space of pure beauty. Inside, oversize Philippine antique furniture pieces are topped with floral arrangements that serve as a polished backdrop to the menu of colorful fashion and home accessories on offer. Unapologetically glamorous with a noticeable absence of pretense, Lanai is where the stylish now pop in to pick up a thoughtful gift, have a bite to eat, and perhaps even take home a small surprise for themselves.

On offer at Lanai are pieces from fashion labels Filip+Inna and Amarie and lifestyle items from Kassa Linens.

Having grown up as neighbors, with weekends and summers spent together in Calatagan, Maria, Bianca, and Natalia first worked together as a team a few years back, when they helped plan Bianca’s wedding. “We just worked so well with one another and decided we wanted to do something more permanent but not jump into doing events right away,” says Maria. “We needed a venue to get our aesthetic out there, and the idea of Lanai was born.” As expected, Maria, daughter of beloved floral designer Toni Parsons, is in charge of the floral design studio within the shop, while Bianca reigns over of the home collection, and Natalia leads the fashion and accessories business. Inside the shop is a small café with a kitchen led by chef Marc Licaros of La Creperie fame, serving simple and tasty fare and a delicious iced coffee.

In addition to the lovely flower arrangements that come in specially crafted vessels, home furnishings abound with a wonderful collection of candles, glasses, barware, and other stylish tabletop and decorative accessories sourced from around the world. Upstairs on the second floor, fashion pieces are showcased and include eyewear from Linda Farrow, Panama hats, and pieces from Amarie by Anne Marie Saguil and Filip+Inna by Len Cabili. “We hope to always be able to showcase a lot of color and tropical resort wear that is easy to wear,” shares Natalia. “There may be classic styles that we have grown up with and some newer and trendier items. It will definitely be a mix of old and new.” Maria adds, “We are very much into supporting Filipino-made items and want to promote our heritage every chance we can.”

Seasonal pop-ups are also planned and will be a permanent part of the revolving assortment of merchandise. Currently, clothes from Arane by Ria Prieto and jewelry from Narra by Ria Prieto and Bea Ledesma are being shown. To further support the Lanai lifestyle, the trio is also extending Lanai’s suite of styling services for customers to “take home” with them. “We can come into your home and help you entertain from conceptualization to execution,” continues Maria. “We really want to offer a total package of living.”
