3 Types of Orchids Every Flower Lover Needs in Their Home
Orchids are colorful and elegant, making them a favorite household plant. With more than 25,000 species, each is unique with its own symbolism. But these three varieties below are some that will bring a little something extra to your home this year.
1. Cambria: Bold and colorful
The unique cambria grows in the wild and is actually a blend of several different orchid species. This plant features quirky and whimsical flowers in deep, beautiful colors such as brown, purple or red. Cambria orchids also exist in pink and orange tones and there are even a small number of white and yellow species too.
2. Cymbidium Cascade: Mysterious and graceful
A symbol of morality and virtue, the cymbidium is a waterfall of flowers in soft pink, light purple or white, with long grassy leaves. In Asia, it is a gesture of respect and friendship to give or receive a cymbidium as a gift.
3. Phalaenopsis: Elegant and feminine
Originally from the tropical rainforests of Asia, New Guinea and Australia, this orchid is a symbol of elegance, femininity and commitment, and it can also be seen as "an expression of your feelings." Available in up to 60 different shapes and colors – from purple to pink, salmon pink, white and yellow – it's ideal for giving a white interior a splash of color. Also called the butterfly orchid, some of its species have spots or stripes.
