Ladies of Shanghai society sipped Champagne as they milled about the two-story, almost 10,000-square foot Tory Burch store, its ninth in China, when it was launched last year. Tory Burch has been fond of the Chinese Chippendale style since she was a little girl, and this was the inspiration for the store’s fretwork and facade of brass and travertine. 

Like Tory Burch boutiques around the world, the Shanghai store evokes an elegant yet comfortable home with wooden tables, lamps made from antique vases, gilded mirrors, and pretty blue- and-white porcelain dishes on the walls.

A fretwork balustrade leads to the second floor, where clients can relax in one of several salons while deciding what to shop for. Our favorite room has a marble fireplace as its centerpiece, with a checkered sofa, a glass coffee table and a shaded brass chandelier.

Vases of fresh hydrangeas, Tory’s favorite, are ubiquitous throughout the store, and travel photos of her parents hang on the walls.

The Kerry Centre flagship carries the full Tory Burch collection, including ready-to-wear, shoes, handbags, accessories, jewelry, home, watches, with fragrance and beauty.

The Peninsula Shanghai‘s presidential suite, modeled after Tory‘s Hamptons dining room for the evening.
