What to Expect at the All-New Manila FAME 2019

There's plenty to look forward to at this year's showcase.

The country's premier design and lifestyle trade event, Manila FAME, is back for its 69th edition.

Organized by the Philippine Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and the Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions (CITEM), Manila FAME is the second longest-running trade show in the Asia Pacific. With a focus on "cultural and design foundations," it will have 'Heritage Reimaged' as its central theme.

"The recent nostalgia over past trends and the revival or reinvention of iconic design pieces are going back in style," explained DTI-CITEM executive director Pauline Suaco-Juan. "Our goal is to highlight the most iconic styles and elements of past products and reintroduce them through modern interpretations."

CITEM has reached out to the biggest names in different industries for a fresh new perspective to the trade event. Creative director Vince Uy will work alongside product development designers to further Filipino design. Stanley Ruiz for home and lighting, Nix Alañon for furniture and lighting, Andre Chang for fashion, and PJ Aranador and Maco Custodio for home and fashion.

One of the new features of Manila FAME is the Fashion E-tailer, a setting dedicated to highlighting fashion entrepreneurs and designer commercial brands such as Nomadic Tendencies, Quiddity Leather Goods, AVA Online Group Inc., HaloHalo, Simple Sentiments PH, Bau l Factory, Stride Collective, Toqa Fashion Studio, Tropik Beatnik, Viajecito, Annie and Lori, Anika, Randolf, Basic Movement, Coral Swimwear, Neon Island, Proudrace, and R-U-A.

ANOTHER EXCITING FEATURE IS THE CREATE LAB.

Aside from the Fashion E-tailer, Manila FAME will have a feature that aims to inspire and motivate creatives by helping them create a personal logo, use stop-motion as well as guides on making creative business processes. Through CREATE Philippines, the CREATE Lab at Manila FAME will also offer networking opportunities and creative experiences.

THERE WILL BE A HIGHLIGHT ON COMMUNITY ADVOCACIES.

In the past, Manila FAME has promoted community empowerment advocacies and this year is no different. This April, the trade event will put a spotlight on the GREAT Women Project and the Artisans Village.

The GREAT Women Project is a collective that assists women entrepreneurs to enhance their skills and innovate existing products. Arts and crafts by the GREAT Women artisans will be featured in the space to expand their reach and markets.

To promote their products, manufacturers from Artisans Village will also be presenting their crafts live during the fair. From raw materials to end products, the demonstration will showcase each artisan's distinct style. The provinces include Antique, Marawi, Zamboanga, and Albay.
