After a short lull post-holiday season, we were back in full swing this past week. Here are some of the things we enjoyed.
Wolfgang’s Steakhouse at the Podium
Wolfgang’s Steakhouse used to be halfway between my home and my office in New York. I used to walk past it every day and dined there on celebratory occasions. So happy it’s opened a second Manila restaurant at the new Podium.
What makes Wolfgang’s steaks extraordinary is the meat itself. Its USDA Prime Angus or Black Angus steaks are dry aged for 28 days on the premises, and seasoned simply with salt and pepper. Pair it with creamed spinach and lobster mac and cheese. But make sure you leave room for the key lime pie. Ground Floor, The Podium, ADB Avenue, Mandaluyong. 505.6272.
BEA VALDES + Idee
Rica Lorenzo’s ultra-exclusive Idee boutique welcomes one-of-a-kind textured creations by designer Bea Valdes. Exquisite hand-cut blossom appliqués dress up beautifully shaped tops in bold colors. Ground Floor, La Panday, 2263 Pasong Tamo Extension, Makati.
The Hungry Tourist meets the Lechon Diva
Popular social media personality David Dudi Califa a.k.a @the.hungry.tourist visited Manila. We joined him at a boodle fight dinner hosted by Dedet de la Fuente, a.k.a. The Lechon Diva. David called Dedet “one of the most talented and blessed cooks I’ve ever met (including all top and celebrity chefs)…I am totally in love with this woman and her huge heart and blessed hands.”
The piece de resistance was lechon stuffed with paella with taba ng talangka and chorizo. Pepita’s Kitchen, 425.4605.
