9 Reasons Why We Love the Dyson Supersonic Hairdryer

Is it worth the price?

I was recently invited to Bangkok for the regional launch of the Dyson Supersonic hairdryer. Every time I posted a photo on social media, different people asked me whether it is worth it.

Well, the nerd in me loves the idea that engineers invested over 50 million pounds over four years studying the science of hair and developing the technology to dry, style, and protect it. And here are some other reasons too.

1. It’s small and light.

Its motor is half the size and weight of its counterparts in conventional hair dryers. And it’s found in the handle instead of the head of the dryer which gives it more balance with less stress on the wrists.

2. It’s fast.

Its digital motor is eight times faster than most hairdryers so it takes less time to dry my hair.  I can stay in bed a few minutes longer in the morning before taking a shower.

3. It doesn’t trap hair.

No more hair getting stuck in a fan because, well, it doesn’t have a fan.

4. It doesn’t burn hair.

It uses what it calls “intelligent heat control technology” which keeps the dryer from getting too hot and causing heat damage that makes hair dry and brittle.

5. It doesn’t burn fingers either.

The dryer and attachments are cool to the touch.

6. It works on all types of hair.

Straight, curly,  wavy hair. Different friends with different types of hair—straight, curly, wavy—swear by it.

7. Its attachments attach and detach quickly and easily.

There are three magnetic attachments that snap on and off. The wide diffuser dries hair gently and disperses air around curls. The smoothing nozzle gives it a smooth, shiny fish. The styling concentrator makes it easier to style hair in sections.

8. It’s virtually indestructible.

Drop it, step on it, use it and abuse it. It’s made with extra strong materials that do not break.

9. It’s cute.

I know that looks shouldn’t matter but in this case it does. Love the silver and pink colors. So chic. Don’t you agree?

Life is good.
