Shu Uemura is Closing All Counters and Boutiques in the Philippines
L'Oréal Philippines has confirmed the sad news.

We hate to break it to you but Shu Uemura is exiting the Philippine market. By April of this year, all counters and boutiques will be shut down.

In a statement released to Preview, Shu Uemura's official distributor said, "L’Oréal Philippines has become a strong market player in the local beauty market. To prepare for our future and to strengthen our position, we have decided to make choices within our brand portfolio. We have made a decision to discontinue the sales of Shu Uemura products in the Philippines."

Many beauty junkies who are mad for the brand—us, included—are surely upset by this news and will certainly miss a number of Shu Uemura products: Its cleansing oil—which was the first product of Mr. Uemura—has been a cult favorite, as well as its eyelash curler, which every beauty girl probably has.

The cosmetics brand has also been known for its fun-filled and festive collaborations that have always had us hankering for limited edition palettes, tubes, and what not, if only for the lust-worthy packaging. How could we forget Karl Lagerfeld's Mon Shu Girl and Viktor & Rolf's line of over-the-top false eyelashes? Tsumori Chisato's whimsical makeup line inspired by The Little Prince had us wearing shimmer on our eyelids. We also had fun playing with those falsies adorned with pink feathers and crystals, which were part of Shupette, the line inspired by Karl Lagerfeld's cat, Choupette. And most recently, Shu Uemura has teamed up with Japanese artist Takashi Murakami to outfit its products in psychedelic flowers—too cute!

Shu Uemura X Takashi Murakami

There's a whole gamut of Shu Uemura products that we wish we could still try on at the counters but perhaps we'll have to content ourselves with purchasing online. If it's any consolation, you can still stock up on your favorites before the final store, the Shu Uemura branch in Power Plant Mall, bids sayonara on April 30, 2017.

How do you say "I'll miss you" in Japanese?
